The battery check indicator will light briefly when a plug is inserted or removed from the output jack. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction. The built-in preamplifier is automatically turned on when a plug is inserted into the output jack. Remove the plug from the output jack to turn off preamplifier power and avoid unnecessary battery drain whenever the instrument is not used or when playing without amplification. If the instrument is not going to be used for an extended period of time, we recommend that the battery be removed in order to avoid power consumption or leakage.
