In particular, the highest speeds at which this modem is capable of operating depend on a specific network implementation which is only one of many ways of delivering high quality voice telephony to customers. In addition to satisfactory line conditions a modem can only work properly if: ­ it is compatible with the modem at the other end of the call and ­ the application using the modem is compatible with the application at the other end of the call -- e. g accessing the internet requires suitable software in addition to a modem. Some parameters required for compliance with Telecom's Telepermit requirements are dependent on the equipment (PC) associated with this device.
